Expertise/ Research Interests:
- Expert in Gastrointestinal Pathology and Cell Biology. Molecular mechanisms of transformation and apoptosis. Microarray analysis.
- Research Interests include "Importance of the insulin-like growth factor I-receptor (IGFI-R) in cell transformation and tumor progression, with particular emphasis on colorectal, ovarian and prostatic adenocarcinoma." These studies involve the application of antisense strategies to in vitro and in vivo models of tumorigenicity and tumor metastasis. Dr. Coppola's second research interest is the study of CD44 expression in tumor metastases.
