As part of the ACGME
Institutional Requirements, institutions that sponsor graduate medical
education must assure the development of personal programs of education. These requirements stipulate that residents
must have adequate knowledge and understanding of core concepts in several key
areas.
The USF College of Medicine has
developed a “core curriculum” to guide the Institution, the Program, and the
Resident in establishing educational guidelines. Key components of the core curriculum and the resident
educational process include:

Office of GME Advises
Program Directors of recommendations for and/or changes to core curriculum in
keeping with the ACGME guidelines for graduate medical education.
Program Directors Establishes a
program of educational components to
include the core curriculum requirements.
Residents Meets
the criteria established by each program and subspecialty program in the
requirements for a core curriculum.
