The University of South Florida College of Medicine recognizes that the performance of a resident may result in disciplinary actions leading to the discontinuation of the individual in the residency program. The circumstances of the discipline and the subsequent right of the resident to initiate a grievance process are outlined in GME policy #218 – Grievance (and Appeal) Process.
In conjunction with this
grievance process, every effort is made to review and document the situation in
a reasonable, straightforward, collegial, and ethical manner consonant with the
values of the academic community. In the
event that the grievance and appeal process results in the dismissal of the
resident from the residency program, the final authority for dismissal of the
resident is vested in the Dean of the
Responsible Party Action

Advises Office of GME of pending dismissal.
Office of GME Advises appropriate residency program of pending dismissal.
Education Coordinator Contacts resident to ensure that resident is up-to-date on all files, medical records, residency paperwork, and has completed a sign-out sheet.
Advises resident to return beeper, keys, TGH parking tag, etc. to the department or to the Office of GME.
Contacts Information Services to delete resident’s HSC server account.
