The Office of Graduate Medical Education is established as the mechanism by which institutional oversight is provided to the residency training programs. Maintained in the College of Medicine, the Office of GME is directed by the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education and staffed by an Assistant Director, an Executive Assistant, a Site Coordinator (TGH), and two (2) Program Assistants to carry out the duties and responsibilities of GME.
The responsibilities of the Office of GME and the Associate Dean for GME include institutional oversight, maintenance of resident contracts and Letters of Agreement for affiliated institutions, coordination of resident salaries and benefits, compliance with the Institutional, common program and specific program requirements of the ACGME, ensures implementation of the policies and procedures as adopted and modified by the GMEC, oversees internal review process, and maintains housestaff website.
General duties and functions of the GME Office staff follow.
Responsible Party Action
Assistant Director Oversees day-to-day implementation of ACGME Outcome Project, maintains web based evaluation and Measurement materials, monitors and assists in internal review process, serves as confidential ombudsman to housestaff, and ensures Letters of Agreements are completed as required.
Administrative Assistant Provides support to the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education; works with faculty members, specialty and sub-specialty departments in fulfilling the responsibilities of graduate medical education; structures resident orientation and seminars as requested; acts as resident liaison for assistance with benefits, parking, RAP, etc.

Site Coordinator Assists Associate Dean and GME staff in oversight of GME programs at TGH, assists with Board of Medicine registration, ECFMG registration, and VISA acquisition and renewal.
Program Assistants Maintains resident database, both current and alumni; prepares resident contracts for new year; assists in resident orientation and seminars as required; schedules GMEC and related subcommittee meetings, assuring minutes, etc. are properly documented; maintains office workflow as appropriate.
