While the overall responsibility
for resident education lies with the USF College of Medicine, the residents
themselves have the responsibility to participate in a fashion appropriate to
that of a competent, compassionate, and skilled physician-in-training.
To assist each resident in the
development of his/her personal program of learning, he/she should:

Provide, at least annually, appropriate feedback
through an anonymous program and faculty evaluation process.

Comply with appropriate COM policies and/or
requirements on leave of absence, grievance and appeal, licensure and
certification requirements, resident contract, completion of benefit forms as
appropriate, and attire.

Ensure that beepers and equipment are maintained and
returned as appropriate.

Comply with the requirement that USF Photo ID be worn
at all times.

Comply with appropriate institutional policies on drug
testing, attire, meals and sleeping facilities, and support services, including
medical record completion and ordering of lab and x-ray services.

Comply with institutional and facility requirements
regarding occupational health and employment related injuries.

Accept responsibility for developing, in conjunction
with the program faculty, a personal program of learning to provide safe, effective
patient care.

Participate in the educational and scholarly activities
of the program.

Take the opportunity to teach other residents and/or
students.

Participate on institutional committees and medical
staff activities as assigned.

Program Directors Ensure that
residents have an opportunity to comply with the resident responsibilities as
outlined above.
