Policy Statement

While the overall responsibility for resident education lies with the USF College of Medicine, the residents themselves have the responsibility to participate in a fashion appropriate to that of a competent, compassionate, and skilled physician-in-training.

To assist each resident in the development of his/her personal program of learning, he/she should:

-          Provide, at least annually, appropriate feedback through an anonymous program and faculty evaluation process.

-          Comply with appropriate COM policies and/or requirements on leave of absence, grievance and appeal, licensure and certification requirements, resident contract, completion of benefit forms as appropriate, and attire.

-          Ensure that beepers and equipment are maintained and returned as appropriate.

-          Comply with the requirement that USF Photo ID be worn at all times.

-          Comply with appropriate institutional policies on drug testing, attire, meals and sleeping facilities, and support services, including medical record completion and ordering of lab and x-ray services.

-          Comply with institutional and facility requirements regarding occupational health and employment related injuries.

-          Accept responsibility for developing, in conjunction with the program faculty, a personal program of learning to provide safe, effective patient care.
