The USF College of Medicine will ensure
that each residency program has defined activities for the residents in each
post-graduate year of training.
This “scope of practice” will
define the range of activities that residents are allowed to perform without
direct supervision during each year of the training program. Residents are authorized to perform any
activity assigned while under direct supervision. The scope of practice for each specialty and sub-specialty may be
modified by the Program Director based on additions to the training program.
Responsible Party Action
Program Director Provides the
resident and the Office of GME with a document describing the approved
activities of the residents for each year of training.
Provides the GMEC
with assurance that adequate supervision will be provided for both direct and
indirect oversight.
