About us

We have a fully-accredited, highly-regarded Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery Residency Program started in 1980 by Dr. Fenske. This program has graduated more than 50 American Board of Medical Specialties certified dermatologists since 1983, several of whom now practice is the greater Tampa Bay area. The three-year program currently consists of twelve (4 per year) residents. Competition is intense with 400-500 applicants, most whom are near the top of their class, vying for one of the annual positions. Residents rotate through USF clinical service sites as well as our affiliated hospitals (TGH, HLM, JAHVA, UCH). We recently implemented a fully-accredited Dermatopathology Fellowship (1 fellow).

Dermatology has been a very popular medical student elective for our students as well as those from other institutions nationwide. Our 4th year USF medical students participate in a joint musculoskeletal/dermatology rotation which increases their exposure to dermatology, expands the knowledge base of all our graduates and hopefully result in more students seeking careers in dermatology.
