Combined Baccalaureate/MD Program

The USF College of Medicine has partnered with several Florida universities providing first-time in college freshmen with a guaranteed pathway into the USF MD Program. This special program allows the USF MD Program to reserve future places in the first-year class for the students in these programs who satisfy the requirements for both university honors and admissions to the study of medicine.

Pre-Matriculation Program

The Pre-Matriculation Program provides a unique experience for students in order to reduce the likelihood of academic difficulties in medical school. Six weeks of didactic lectures, small group discussions, computer-aided instruction in Biochemistry and Gross Anatomy, and introduction to the physical examinations introduce students to basic medical science before they begin medical school coursework. The curriculum includes presentations on time and stress management, effective study skills and computer skills. All accepted first-year medical students are eligible for participation in the program in the summer before matriculating at the medical school. Stipends are available for qualified students.

Combined MD/MPH Program

MD Students may elect to add a 5th year to their program and graduate with an MD/MPH Degree offered in conjunction with the USF College of Public Health (COPH). Students may select MPH plans of study will focus on community and family health with concentrations in Epidemiology, Preventative Medicine/Occupational Health, Health Care Organizations and Management, or Maternal and Child Health.

Interested MD students will apply via the USF Office of Graduate Affairs during the spring of their third year in medical school. After taking 3 semesters of MPH Program courses, students return to the College of Medicine to complete their final year of the MD Program.

Combined MD/PhD Program

Upon special application to the Dean and following demonstration of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values appropriate to the achieved level of training in the College of Medicine Curriculum, the Dean of the College of Medicine may approve an individualized program of study leading to the combined MD/PhD degree. Students may initiate such application by contacting the USF Office of Graduate Affairs.

Combined MD/MBA Program

Students need only apply to the College of Medicine and indicate their interest in pursuing the joint MD/MBA Program.  Admission to the College of Medicine guarantees admission to the MBA Program in the College of Business Administration.  No additional admission tests are required.  [It will, however, be necessary for the admitted student to subsequently also complete a USF Graduate School Application and submit an application fee of $30, and to grant permission for the Medical School to release the student’s transcripts and test scores.]

Combined MD/JD Program

The combined MD/JD program between USF and Stetson Law School results in students attaining both degrees in 6.5 years versus the 7 years required if pursued independently. Applicants need to complete both the LSAT and MCAT exams before applying to each school for admissions. An independent consent of each school's Admissions Committee will admit applicants into this combined degree.
