Multiple Sclerosis

The Multiple Sclerosis Center is a subspecialty program of the University of South Florida's Department of Neurology. The USF Multiple Sclerosis Center provides comprehensive care for patients with central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory diseases and serves as a tertiary referral center for central Florida. Our clinic focuses on the early diagnosis and chronic treatment of MS, neuromyelitis optica and other demyelinating disorders. The program offers state-of the-art diagnostic resonance imaging studies, laboratory testing of blood and cerebrospinal fluid, evoked potential studies, comprehensive urological care, physical therapy and neuropsychiatric evaluation. In addition to treatment with approved immunomodulatory and immunosuppressive therapies, the USF MS program conducts studies of the new therapies for early phases of the disease.

    Lisr Casady, MS, ARNP-BC, MSCNLise' earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing for University of Tampa, and her Masters in Nursing at the University of South Florida in 1991. She has spent her entire career in the care of patients with neurological injuries and illness. She worked for many years at Tampa General Hospital caring for patients with neurological trauma as well as neurodegenerative conditions. She joined Department of Neurology at the University of South Florida in 2006 as nurse practitioner in the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic. She currently works in collaboration with Dr. Stanley Krolczyk and Dr. Charles Brock caring for the more than 800 MS patients as well as overseeing all MS clinical research at USF. Lise is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, and is a multiple sclerosis certified nurse. Lise has authored and co-authored numerous publications and has participated as sub-investigator on several clinical trials. She has lectured both locally and nationally and is active in her community. She has received several honors such as Nurse of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to Spinal Cord Injury Nursing, and the "Catch the Spirit" Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
