| Clinical Interests: |
My clinical emphasis is on diseases of the peripheral nervous system particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis autoimmune peripheral neuropathy (including CIDP and Multifocal Motor Neuropathy) the diabetic neuropathies and myasthenia gravis. |
| Research Interests: |
My research has focused on developing and testing new and more effective therapies for neuromuscular disorders, as well as exploring the mechanisms of nerve and motor neuron function and deterioration in disease and injury. I have over 15 years of experience in the development and performance of therapeutic trials, including experimental therapy for ALS, diabetic neuropathy and toxic neuropathy using growth factors, anti-excitotoxic and anti-oxidant compounds and gene therapy. In addition, my work has included the development and application of new physiologic methods for the exploration of motor neuron deterioration in ALS and studies of nerve injury due to trauma, toxins and diabetes. |
