SCDC CHRONOLOGY

The Silver Child Development Center was founded in 1997 at the University of South Florida as a center of excellence in developmental neuroscience.

1997 - Center for Infant & Child Development founded
• Robert A. Silver Endowment for Neurodevelopment
• Archie Silver named Co-Director with Stan Graven
• Anthony Reading named Center Administrator
1998 - Space Designated by Dean Silbiger for the Center
1999 - Type III Center Approval
• First dedication ceremonies Higgins Hall
2000 - $2,500,000 Legislative Grant for construction
2001 - Sponsored Research surpasses $800,000
2002 - Center transferred by Dean Daugherty to the
Department of Psychiatry
• Center build out begins
• Name changed to Child Development Center
• Dr. Silver named sole Director of Center
2003 - Dr. Fernandez named Interim Director
• Angel Jenkins named Center Administrator
• Funding exceeds $1,000,000
• Laboratory and clinical programs are centralized
• Nationwide search for new Center Director
2004 - Services begin in the newly built center
2005 - Dr. Myers named Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
