PASCV Travel Awards
Application & Abstract Deadline March 1, 2010

Travel Awards

The Pan American Society for Clinical Virology provides several $750 travel grants to selected students, postdoctoral fellows, and technologists in North America, who submit abstracts to the annual Clinical Virology Symposium. In addition, two $1,000 travel grants are sponsored by Diagnostic HYBRIDS in honor of Drs. Edwin Lennette and Edith Hsiung.

Due to increased travel costs, $1500 travel grants are awarded to winners who are Latin American residents. One of these is a special award given in memory of Dr. Mario Escobar.

Applicants from other areas of the world may be considered if the request is need-based, and if money is available.

To be eligible, the applicant must be the presenter of a poster, at any level other than faculty. Preference will be given to individuals who have not previously been selected. Winners are not eligible to re-apply for a minimum of 3 years.

Applicants should submit:

  • A completed Travel Award Application Form in English or Spanish (both forms can be completed on the computer, printed, and submitted by mail or fax. Word forms are available at www.virology.org)
  • A supporting letter from your supervisor/ department head
  • A copy of your abstract

These materials should be sent to Dr. Steven Specter, Symposium Chairman, via email to sspecter@hsc.usf.edu or by mail (send two copies) to MDC04, University of South Florida College of Medicine, 12901 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa, FL 33612.

Abstracts will be reviewed and winners selected by a committee consisting of Dr. Specter and PASCV Officers.
