Interactive Session: Molecular
Testing in the 21st Century - Practical Issues and Concerns
R.L. Hodinka, Ph.D., Children's Hospital of Philadelphia & University
of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA
D.L. Wiedbrauk, Ph.D., Warde Medical Laboratory, Ann Arbor, MI
This session will be interactive with audience participation. Various issues
and practical points regarding molecular testing will be discussed and debated.
The co-organizers of the workshop will function as facilitators to pose questions
to the workshop participants and to help direct the discussion. We will draw
upon the collective experience of the audience; the opinions will vary and the
discussions will be lively. It should be fun, interesting, and quite informative.

Continuing education objectives:As a result of this workshop, participants
will (1) improve their understand of molecular diagnostic techniques
for detecting viruses, (2) develop an improved ability to select
and perform molecular methods for the diagnosis and quantitation
of viruses, and (3) improve their ability to assist clinical staff
in the proper interpretation of results obtained from molecular
virology testing.
The University of South Florida College of Medicine is accredited
